...And the livin's easy. Well, almost.

Everyone in the Los Angeles area today got a glimpse of SUMMER. We're almost there and I can’t stop smiling thinking about lounging poolside with a cold Corona while munching on  guacamole and chips. Driving to Malibu blasting The Gipsy Kings. The familiarity of walking into a chilly hotel lobby after a long drive in the summer heat. Wearing white while letting my California sun kissed tan be it's accessory. Experiencing the constant aroma of tanning oil. Tasting Tequila flavored kisses. Catching up on summer reading. Spending the warm nights at bon fires, outdoor lounges and BBQ’s. The list can go on and on...

I hope everyone is beginning to detoxify their livers, charge their cameras and hit the gym because we only have a few months left to prep! Do it.

XOXO, LALA.

What's on your list?

We will die. It is the only promise we have in life.  But how come we don’t let this concept fully sink in? Why do we take everyday for granted when we KNOW we shouldn’t? Why do so many people die without living their lives to the fullest? We study  subjects which we don’t care for. Work at dead end jobs that nourish the corporate world but do nothing for our souls.  Live in broken homes that eventually shatter our dreams. Stay committed in unhappy relationships only to become immune to being mistreated. Then, we eat, sleep, and wake up to  do the same shit the next day. But let me tell you this, one day, when you’re on your death bed…the only thought that will be going through your heads is: " Why did I take so many of my healthy days for granted? Why didn’t I utilize this luxery known as LIFE and do more...way more."

Don’t be one of those people, please. Do something. Make changes. Stay curious. Don’t settle for less. Don’t settle period. Revolutionize. Explore. Set goals and enjoy.

Some people think  that making a list of things to do before you die is depressing. I find it inspiring. Here is my bucket-list:
  1. Experience the perfect Autumn in the east-coast.
  2. Create/decorate/shop for my dream home.
  3. Live comfortably in my dream home.

  8. Take a road trip across the U.S.
  9. Pursue my passion and be successful at it.
  10. Make a difference in someone's life.
  11. Travel/experience the world. (Ireland, Scotland, England,Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Dubai, Armenia, Tropical/Exotic locations)
  12. Give back to those who gave to me.
  13. Finish school.
  14. Make my family genuinely proud.
  15. Get a tattoo.
  16. Cliff dive.
  17. Be a part of a social movement I believe in.
  18. See Eminem live.
  19. Fly first class.
  20. See 7 digits in my bank account.
  21. Write a book.
  22. Learn self defense.
  23. Start a family with somebody I love.
  24. Stay in love after we start a family.
  25. Visit the top museums around the world.
  26. Stand up to corporate America.
  27. Tell somebody the story of my life, sparing no details.
  28. Go on a shopping spree on Rodeo.
  29. Shower in a waterfall.
  30. Learn to load and shoot a gun.
  31. Grow a garden.
  32. Be the boss.
  33. Own more paint, canvas, pencils, stickers, notebooks than I know what to do with.
  34. Find complete comfort in my own skin.
  35. Donate a huge amount of money to a charity of my choice...anonymously.
  36. Create something that will linger here on earth even when I'm gone.

Not Guilty

When Manny and I had our first conversations almost a year ago, he mentioned that his favorite author was Michael Connelly. When he found out that his favorite book had been made into a movie, I knew I had no choice but to go see it-but I am SO thankful I did. The Lincoln Lawyer, directed by Brad Furman, was a breath of fresh air. I had not seen a legal/psychological thriller worth watching in years. To give you an idea, it is about a smooth defense attorney(Haller), who gets hired to defend a wealthy bachelor acused of raping and brutally beating a prostitute. Seems simple right? The case rapidly develops into a deadly diversion of survival for Haller. The  brainteasing plot spirals out of control and stays that way until the end.

I like movies that linger on my mind for a few days, and this one definetly one of them. I hope you guys find the time to go see it!

It's Women's Day, son.

We are told we cry too easily.
We are told we whine too often.
We are told our only asset is best applied in the kitchen.
We are told our menstrual cycle gets the best of us and we can’t think rationally for a week.
We are told we cannot drive by any means.
We are told to find a rich husband in order to secure ourselves financially.
We are told we are insecure creatures.
We are told the only fight we can put up is a “cat fight”
We are told to play it safe and not take risks, cause at the end of the day, it’s a man’s world…but I beg to differ.

Tweezing, waxing, burns, cramps, pills, pap smears, mammograms, child delivery,  hormonal shifts, nausea, morning sickness, anxiety, breast feeding, abortions and yet we are criticized for being emotional?! HA! I would like to see a man endure half of what we do. Sounds crazy to switch roles? Well, women pretty much have; we are now executives at large firms. We are now presidential candidates.  We now cook your meals, do your laundry, turn your houses into homes, nurture you, put money in your accounts, raise your children, all the while maintaining good looks . So yes, we may PMS and yes, we may NOT be able to add radiator fluid into our cars but you better believe that we have what makes the world go round.

Ladies-Let us embrace our wounds instead of hide them. Let us cry without feeling weak. Let’s stand up tall against anyone who feels differently and let them know  to move out of the way. We all know it is difficult as it is, so don’t let anyone make it any harder on you. If they tell you you’re nothing, don’t believe them.  If you’re  being belittled, LEAVE. If you have got it going on as a women then you deserve a real MAN who understands, because trust me, a real man will.   We have come a long way, and it ain't stoppin' now. Happy International Women’s Day, show ‘em whatcha got!
